Cawthon was interested in game creation after his mother purchased a program called Klik and Play. He is an American video-game developer, writer, and animator.  Cawthon started his career as a YouTuber, uploading his first series 'The Pilgrim's Progress' in eight parts. He rose to popularity in the early 2010s as an animator and video game developer. His success story as a game developer started in 2014. He released a total of seven video games till 2020, the last one titled 'Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach'. 

His games franchise 'Five Nights at Freddy's' have sold across the world for millions and even made it to the Guinness Book of Records Gamers Edition. In addition, his name can be attributed to games like 'Chipper & Son's Lumber Co.', 'The Desolate Hope', and 'There is No Pause Button!.'

A devout Christian by faith, Cawthon was previously a part of Hope Animation, which was dedicated to making animated films about Christianity. The donations, several in number, ranged in amount from $5 to $5,000, between 2015 to 2020. On August 19, 2020, Cawthon reportedly made a series of hefty donations to politicians like Devin Nunes, Joe Collins, Cory Gardner, Mitch McConnell as well as the National Republican Senatorial Committee. While the lowest donation of $933 was made to Nunes, the highest amount of $5,000 went to McConnell. In total, on that day, he donated a whopping $14,033 to the Republican party. 

The only Democrat Cawthon has ever donated to appears to be Tulsi Gabbard. But, the Twitter user who exposed his contributions argue, "Some people might be tripped up by the lone dem on that list, tulsi gabbard, but if you look at her politics the picture becomes clear. she's a crypto-fash who's allied with hindutva militias, pushes anti-trans bills and appeared on PragerU..." adding, "Scott is notch minus the candy wall."
