Minecraft YouTuber Dream recently admitted that he has a Selena Gomez playlist and that her music, in his words, "slaps," and the results may have surprised everyone.
Dream's YouTube channels are all about the popular video game Minecraft, a lego-esque video game that was developed in 2009. However, most video game YouTube channels consist of communication between all of the players, which can be revealing in the most entertaining ways.
In a recent video, Dream admitted to other plays that "old Selena songs go hard" and that "her music slaps." Soon after saying this, singer and actress Selena Gomez started trending on Twitter, and people couldn't help but talk about the insane amount of pull the YouTuber must have to accomplish such a thing as well.
The other users who speak in the videos are anonymous, but it was Dream who said these statements about Gomez. As the conversation continued, other users began to play older songs by Gomez while still playing the game.
Dream created his YouTube in 2014, and went on to have six more YouTube channels within a seven-year span. He was named the breakout creator of 2020 by YouTube, and was nominated for two Streamy Awards in 2020, winning one for the Gaming category.
He was accused of cheating at the game following an investigation in 2020, leading to him being removed from Speedrun.com's Minecraft Championship boards. He has stood by the decision, and has not been involved in other major controversies since this incident.
Gomez, meanwhile, has released several top hits over the last few years, but the ones from The Scene are now old enough that they're beginning to be considered throwback classics. The 2009 song "Naturally" became Gomez's breakout hit, leading to other now-classics such as 2010's "Round & Round" and 2011's "Who Says." Even though none of these songs came close to being number one hits, they are considered to be Gomez's "cult classics."
Although Gomez was the artist that saw the most trending power from the stream, she wasn't the only one. Paramore and Jonas Brothers also began to trend because the YouTuber mentioned their music from that era. Both of those groups have had popular songs come out over the last few years, and Jonas Brothers were nominated for a Grammy Award for their song "Sucker" in 2019.
Both Paramore and The Jonas Brothers are known best for their songs from around a decade ago; Paramore's 2007 breakout hit "Misery Business" has continued to be one of their most famous songs, and Gomez's fellow Disney Channel stars The Jonas Brothers penned hit songs such as "Year 3000" and "Burnin' Up," which achieved iconic status among younger Millennials and older members of Gen Z.
Combining all seven of Dream's YouTube channels, he has reached more than 31 million subscribers. He's also had more than 2 billion views from YouTube users and regularly posts videos on his YouTube channels.
All of artists' mentioned in this article have music is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.
