Gaston Co. officers, Krispy Kreme raise money for Special Olympics WSOC TV

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — This weekend officers in Gaston County are staking out the roof of a Krispy Kreme to help athletes with special needs.

The Gaston County Sheriff's Office has partnered for the 15th year with Krispy Kreme to raise money for local Special Olympics athletes.

At least one deputy will be stationed on Krispy Kreme's roof from 9 a.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Sunday.

The officer stationed on the roof has a bucket on a rope to collect donations from customers who in turn get a sweet treat from Krispy Kreme.

The Krispy Kreme is located at 2990 East Franklin Square, Gastonia.
