American Idol Lucy Love has been pursuing her dream of becoming a successful musician since childhood.
Lucy Love, a 28-year-old native of Holly Grove, Arkansas, recently made it through her first audition on American Idol.
Love’s performance on the premiere episode of the show’s 21st season included renditions of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and “A Song for You.”
Love shared that she comes from a family of people who never had the opportunity to achieve their dreams, and with no father present in her life, her mother was in and out of her and her siblings’ lives.
However, Love explained that music is her sanctuary and the one area where she feels confident.
The American Idol judges panel, which consisted of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan, gave Love three yeses, which allowed her to advance to Hollywood.

Ryan Seacrest is hosting the 21st season of American Idol.

Fans can watch new episodes of American Idol on ABC every Sunday at 8 pm ET.
The two-hour-long episodes can be streamed on the network’s website and Hulu one day after the television premiere.
